Keeping it short and sweet today.
Tomorrow is International Grenache (Garnacha) Day, and I wanted to share some of my favorite expressions of the grape variety.
But before I get to the recommendations, a little background on this spicy grape:
It is primarily found in France and Spain. In France, it gives main character energy in the Rhone Valley and is one of the stand-out varieties that make up Châteauneuf-du-Pape.
Grenache is commonly used to make delicious rosé.
Grenache also has a sister, Grenache Blanc, which makes incredible white wines.
It’s the ‘G’ in GSM (Grenache, Syrah, and Mourvedre).

And finally, the flavor profile of Garnacha includes robust strawberry, black plum, blood orange, and leather.
